Kim Jong Un apparently plans meeting with Vladimir Putin

North Korean strongman Kim is apparently planning to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced by the US government. It is to take place this month in Vladivostok.

According to tagesschau.de the meeting is expected to focus primarily on arms deliveries. “As we have publicly warned, negotiations on arms deliveries between Russia and North Korea are moving forward,” U.S. National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in Washington. Watson further indicated that Kim is seeking that “these talks continue and include high-level diplomatic exchanges in Russia.” According to information obtained by The New York Times, Kim, who rarely travels abroad, plans to meet the Russian president in Vladivostok in September.

U.S. calls on North Korea not to supply weapons to Russia

Last week, the White House stated that allies North Korea and Russia were conducting secret negotiations over possible munitions supplies for Russia’s war in Ukraine. John Kirby, the National Security Council spokesman stated that North Korea had supplied infantry missiles and other projectiles to Russia last year despite a counter-declaration, they were then used by the mercenary force Wagner. Watson said the U.S. called on North Korea to stop negotiating with Russia and to abide by its pledge “not to provide weapons to Russia.”
