Numerous explosions in Russia: Ukraine destroys Putin’s Triumf

Ukraine has reportedly succeeded in destroying one of Putin’s S-400 Triumph air defense systems. This information comes from Anton Gerashchenko, the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, on the short messaging service X.

He writes, “Reportedly, a Russian S-400 Triumph air defense system was destroyed in a drone attack on the Belgorod region in Russia. It costs approximately 1.2 billion dollars. Russian Telegram channels reported that around 20 explosions were heard in the area where the system was located. Power outages occurred in nearby settlements. This is the second Russian Triumph complex to be destroyed within the last month. The first one was hit in Yevpatoria on September 14.”

Belgorod is a city in the European part of Russia with a population of about 350,000. In recent months, it has been repeatedly targeted by (drone) attacks. Russia has been conducting a war against Ukraine since 2014, and the conflict escalated in February 2022.
