Russia: air strike on the Crimean peninsula

Russia says it repelled an air strike on the Crimean Peninsula last Monday. This reports the German news website n-tv.de.

“Our military repels a missile attack. According to initial information, the air defense has shot down a missile near the Belbek airfield,” Mikhail Razvosheyev, the Moscow-appointed governor of Sevastopol, announced via Telegram. Earlier, at around 9 p.m. local time (8 p.m. CEST), Razvosheyev had said via Telegram that authorities in the region had sounded the air alert. About an hour later, it was lifted. The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported that more than seven Ukrainian drones were destroyed by Russian air defenses in Russia’s Belgorod region on the border with Ukraine.

This information comes from a party to the conflict and has not yet been independently verified / confirmed. For this reason, the report must be evaluated with reservations. In war, it can be advantageous for parties to make false statements about the course of the conflict in order to strengthen their own position or weaken the position of the opponent.
