Russia deploys fighter jets: US drones near Crimea

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, two fighter jets have been dispatched to intercept two U.S. drones over the Black Sea. This reports the German news website n-tv.de.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the incident occurred near the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014. Russia says it wants to prevent a “possible violation of the border.” The German news website Berliner Zeitung reports with reference to the Russian Defense Ministry that an incident disclosed on Sunday involved a US reconnaissance drone. “When the Russian fighter approached, the foreign reconnaissance drone made a U-turn and moved away from the state border of the Russian Federation” says the Russian Defense Ministry.
