“Russia is losing control”: Zelenskyy appalled by outbreaks of violence

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has attributed a renewed loss of control to Moscow following the riots in the Russian republic of Dagestan.

According to faz.de in his nightly video address, he stated that Russia would have mobilized all its forces to maintain Ukrainian territories it has occupied during its ongoing war of aggression that has lasted for more than 20 months. “Yet, in doing so, they have contaminated their own national territory with such a degree of hatred and degradation that Russia is losing control of events for the second time this year,” said Zelenskyy, who himself has Jewish roots.

Zelenskyy: Authority’s power wanes in Dagestan

Referring to the deceased Wagner chief Prigozhin, the Ukrainian president said that initially mutinous Russian mercenaries marched towards Moscow, and now there are also observations that the power of the authorities in Dagestan is waning. In the Muslim-influenced North Caucasus, there was an unprecedented incident on Sunday evening. In the capital, Makhachkala, people stormed the airport just as a plane from Israel had landed. This was followed by severe riots, with passengers being pelted with stones, among other things. According to Russian authorities, 20 people were injured and more than 80 individuals were detained.
