Ukraine Threatened by Putin’s New Superweapon

According to Russian reports, the Suchoi Su-57 fighter jet has been in use in the Ukraine war for months. This superweapon may now also be receiving an upgrade.

As reported by the Münchner Merkur, this fighter jet is considered Russia’s most advanced combat aircraft. It has been touted to turn the tide in the Ukraine war for months – however, this supposed wonder weapon of Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly been noted for technical shortcomings. As a result, the Suchoi Su-57 has rarely been used in combat against Kyiv. The fighter jet is a response to the latest jets from other countries, and Putin had placed great hopes on this new development.

Despite financial constraints, there are reportedly ongoing developments with this fighter jet. In the summer, the Russian news agency Tass reported that the pace of production is to be increased and new types of weapons are to be deployed. The arms company Rostec aims to deliver a total of 76 fighter jets by 2028. The new missile for the Su-57 is said to be the newly developed short-range missile RWW-MD2. According to Russian claims, this air-to-air weapon is vastly superior to its Western counterparts.
