Unbelievable: Ukrainian hides T-80 tank as a “trophy” in his backyard

Ukrainian authorities report that a man from Ukraine hid a working T-80 tank in his backyard for more than a year.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in late February 2022, there were numerous reports of abandoned Russian tanks. According to Ukrainian authorities, a Ukrainian man hid one of these tanks, a working T-80, in his backyard for more than a year. A spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army shared on Telegram that the man considered the vehicle a “trophy.” Now he has handed over the tank to the authorities, and it is to be made available to the army, according to the German news platform n-tv.de.

According to military analysts, since the beginning of the war in February 2022, Russia has lost more than 2000 tanks out of the original number of around 3000. This is reported by the the German magazine Frankfurter Rundschau. It is reported that Moscow is no longer able to produce modern tanks at the required rate or make them fit for combat again. Therefore, the country is increasingly relying on obsolete T-54, T-55 and T-62 tanks from the Soviet Union era. At the same time, Ukraine continues to receive modern tanks from its Western allies.
