Attack ends in disaster: Russia loses thousands of soldiers and hundreds of tanks

Avdiivka, formerly a small town with around 32,000 inhabitants, seems to be becoming a new epicenter of the battles between the Ukrainians and the Russians. As merkur.de reports, Russia is suffering massive losses there.

Citing figures from ABC News, Merkur writes that Russia lost more than 6,000 soldiers in just one week on this front section in the east of the country alone. This is in addition to another 400 tanks. The British Ministry of Defence also reports that the number of Russian casualties in the area has increased by 90 percent since the start of the offensive. Forbes writes of 1,380 Russians killed within 24 hours.

These figures have not yet been verified and/or confirmed by an independent source. Therefore, they should be viewed with caution. In war, it can be advantageous for parties to the conflict to deliberately spread misinformation in order to strengthen their own position or weaken that of the opponent.
