The Russian air defense, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, shot down two S-200 missiles over the occupied Crimea on October 18. This was reported by The Kyiv Independent.
Prior to this, the news agency Krym.Realii reported explosions in Sevastopol, followed by an air raid alarm. The “governor” of Sevastopol appointed by Russia, Mikhail Rasvoshayev, later reported that the Russian Navy was repelling an air attack near Sucharna Balka. Rasvoshayev also confirmed that there was an explosion in the area of Sacharnaja Golovka in Sevastopol.
According to Krym.Realii, there are several warehouses in Sacharnaja Golovka where Russian missiles and other weapons are stored. Since the summer of 2023, attacks on Russian military targets in the occupied Crimea have increased. The Ukrainian military claimed responsibility for a missile attack on the peninsula on October 7, which hit a military target and resulted in casualties among Russian forces. Kyiv has not commented on the reports of the October 18 attack.
